According to TimeOut, New Year’s Eve celebrations across Dubai were called off. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the cancellation of all forms of celebrations marking the New Year in Dubai emirate, as an act of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
So yeah, If you have tickets for a party in dubai its off unless its a private party. Personally I’m not agreeing with HHS Mohammed. I say keep the parties going, keep the tourists coming, and donate a few million AED or a hospital or something.

According to the Guardian:
Chanel is to cut 200 jobs as fears grow that the supposedly recession proof luxury market is falling victim to the global credit crisis. Citing a steep decline in this year’s sales, the largest French union, the CGT, said the losses at the French fashion label would concern all staff on fixed term and temporary contracts and come into effect on Wednesday. Sixteen posts would be cut from the brand’s boutique on rue Cambon in the heart of Paris’s fashion district, it added in a statement at the weekend. The job losses, described by some commentators as the label’s worst crisis since founder Coco Chanel fired all her staff at the outbreak of war in 1939, represent almost 10% of the company’s production workforce. The redundancies come after a difficult year for the fashion, perfume, cosmetics and accessories businesses where growth has almost ground to a halt.

FDA approves Allergan’s drug for longer eyelashes.Allergan Inc, the maker of Botox, said on Friday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved its eyelash-thickening drug Latisse.
Latisse is designed to treat a condition known as hypotrichosis of the eyelashes, which means a person does not have enough eyelashes.
The active ingredient in Latisse is bimatroprost, the same ingredient that is in Allergan’s glaucoma treatment Lumigan. Patients taking Lumigan found a side effect of the drug to be eyelash growth, prompting Allergan to study it for the new use.
Latisse is a once-daily prescription treatment that is applied to the base of the upper eyelash with a sterile, single-use-per-eye disposable applicator. Once treatment is stopped, eyelashes will gradually return to where they were prior to treatment.
Side effects of Latisse can include eye redness, itchy eyes and a darkening of the eyelid skin. Though not reported in clinical studies, Allergan said Latisse may also cause the colored part of the eye to become browner, a condition that might be permanent.
So, Who’s in?

According to the NY magazine Blog:
…young Brazilian male models Madge is appearing with in her upcoming W spread, shot by Steven Klein. The Telegraph says she’s “dating” one, 20-year-old Jesus Luz. Made in Brazil reports:
The phones at 40 Graus Models have not stopped ringing since Madonna left the country. Jesus Luz has quickly become one [of] the most requested boys for the shows in Rio in January. Brazilian labels have been trying to cast him before his rate of R$400 a show goes up.
So not only is he hot, he’s also a cheap date … for now, at least. Steven Klein reportedly arranged for Jesus to be Madonna’s New Year’s date. It all might be hard to believe (okay, not really), but the owner of 40 Graus Models says Jesus is already in London. God, it’s times like these we love Madonna.
In September I came across a beautiful pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses at a tiny sunglass store in London, and fell in love with those sunglasses.
I didn’t buy it because I had just bought another pair that morning. Yesterday while browsing the net a porter sale page I found them selling for KD 63
